Dwayne Wade’s face is missing from the new statue unveiled in front of the Kaseya Center. In its place, a chin-implanted Dwyane Wade fanatic named, “Gabrielle.” According to this article here in People, Wade was able to visit the artists that were making the statue. These were the same artists that created the Kobe Bryant statue. The ceremony was great, with Wade’s son Zaire giving him a great dedication. Read it in this article here from Essentially sports.
According to this article here in the LA times, Kobe Bryant OK’d the pose in the statue himself. That’s not the problem. The likeness is the problem. Look at the statue likeness:
Now look at Kobe. Notice that the cheek bones on the statue are too high and the jaw line is too skinny from the picture. Likenesses preserved in bronze are not easy, but these sculptors are paid to do this work and should be ready. Look at this article here from the BBC, the amateur sculptor who did the terrible statue of Cristiano Ronaldo redid the sculpture.
It will never happen, but the sculpture should be redone. Ronaldo’s sculptor was recommissioned by the Bleacher Report to do another, read the article here. He did a much better one, but with a serious face. Wade’s jawline looks cartoonish as if he was a comic book character. The nose and mouth are pushed too far forward as the actual picture of Wade shows his cheekbones drop with his open mouth.
Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson attended the ceremony. Read my article here on their publicized relationship by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava. Miami is angling for a WNBA expansion franchise. If I’m PR director of the franchise, I would sleep outside the General manager’s house to get A’ja Wilson traded to Miami.
