Dwight Howard Sends Message After Historic NBA Signing on Monday

The Milwaukee Bucks signed forward Alex Antetokounmpo to a two‑way contract on Monday, adding the youngest Antetokounmpo brother to teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo and creating the first instance in NBA history of three brothers holding active roster contracts with the same franchise.

Alex, 24, spent the last two seasons playing in Europe and had multiple stints in the G League earlier in his pro career, including time with Raptors 905 and the Wisconsin Herd; he has not yet appeared in a regular‑season NBA game.

The Bucks cleared a two‑way spot by waiving Jamaree Bouyea to make room for Alex, who is expected to split time between the NBA and the G League while the club evaluates him at the NBA level.

After the news broke, Hall of Famer Dwight Howard reacted on social media to the Bucks' signing, posting on X, "Uh oh, the Bucks looking scary, they got all the brothers back ."

That family reunion comes while Giannis remains the Bucks’ centerpiece on a sizable contract — a player who finished the 2024–25 regular season averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists, and who carries a cap hit in excess of $54 million for 2025–26 under his existing deal.

Giannis has two seasons left on that extension before the next major contract decision window.

Still, Giannis’ long-term status in Milwaukee has been a persistent storyline this offseason. League reporting shows the New York Knicks were the most prominent suitors in offseason conversations and the two teams engaged in exploratory talks, though sources say discussions never reached an advanced, executable stage.

With Alex, a player who has yet to play in the NBA, on a two-way deal, the signing itself is relatively minor.

Yet, it matters on multiple levels.

Strategically, the move does not alter the franchise’s cap or trade calculus materially today, as Giannis remains under contract and trade rumors haven't slowed. However, it does emphasize how the Bucks are still prioritizing building around Giannis with players he might want to compete alongside, not the least of which now includes his youngest brother.
