As LeBron James approaches the twilight of his illustrious NBA career, his vision for the future may extend beyond just playing alongside his eldest son, Bronny James.
According to former Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard, LeBron is also preparing his younger son, Bryce James, to join the Lakers in the coming years.
During a recent episode of "Podcast P with Paul George," Howard shared insights into LeBron's aspirations which seem to include a unique family dynamic at the Lakers.
“The last time I told LeBron, he said, listen, I'm trying to get Bronny and Bryce to be on the Lakers, and I'm trying to get Savannah to be— he's going to be the owner of the team, so it's a family affair, the whole James family," Howard joked.
James has openly expressed his desire to play in the NBA with Bronny, and now it seems he hopes to extend that dream to include Bryce, a Sierra Canyon High School senior committed to playing at Arizona.
Bryce James is considered a 3-star recruit and might not leave college as early as his brother, potentially making him available as an undrafted free agent. This scenario could ease LeBron's realization of his vision of playing with both sons on the Lakers, suggesting he might play for at least two more years.
Howard reflected positively on his time with the Lakers, especially during their 2020 NBA championship run.
“But no man, I really enjoyed my time with the Lakers. Obviously playing with LeBron, it's a great memory playing with the Lakers,” Howard said. “As far as retirement, man, I just wanted to play as long as I could play, and retire when I feel like retiring, not when somebody else tells me I should or stuff like that.”
With Bryce's growth and Bronny's ongoing development in the Lakers organization, the James family continues to build a basketball legacy. Bronny hasn't emerged as a rotation play in Los Angeles yet but has shown potential in the G League.
