Dwyane Wade: 'I'll vote for Chris Paul to be my President'

Chris Paul has proven his leadership among players, as he has used his platform as Players Association President to encourage the NBA to stay focused on speaking out against systemic racism. His outspoken leadership caused Dwyane Wade to say he would happily vote for Paul if he ever runs for President of the United States.

"I’ll vote for Chris Paul to be my President when he’s ready to run," Wade wrote on Twitter.

Wade was responding to quotes made by Paul about voting, supporting the WNBA and the death of Breonna Taylor.

"We’re just gonna keep it going … tryna encourage people to vote, continue to keep Breonna Taylor’s name out there, supporting our WNBA women out there. Keep educating ourselves," Paul said.

NBA players have made social and racial justice a priority as they've resumed their season in Orlando. Most players have knelt during the national anthem, and many have expressed their support of the Black Lives Matter movement during interviews with the press. Given Paul's position of leadership in the league, his words will surely empower other players to not stay silent.

As for Paul's future in politics, he has made no indication that he would be interested in a White House residency, but if he decides to make a run, he knows he would at least have the support of one other member of the Banana Boat crew. For now, Paul is most likely focused on getting the Thunder ready for the playoffs. Given the team's dominating win over the Lakers, it appears they are ready to take on anyone in the Western Conference.
