The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a hot start this season.

Luka Doncic has carried the load while LeBron James is sidelined with a sciatica injury.

Doncic has been playing some of his best basketball. Luka’s defense has improved and his offense has been electric.

The Los Angeles Lakers look like a legitimate title contender in the early part of the season.

Dwyane Wade says the Los Angeles Lakers are not better without LeBron James

Doncic is giving Lakers fans a glimpse of the type of basketball to expect in the future.

Once James retires, Doncic will have full control over how the Lakers look. He’s already been made the face of the franchise and will have the keys from here on out.

Dwyane Wade talked about how the Lakers look with Doncic, but made it clear that the team is not better without LeBron.

“It allowed for Luka to run the show, obviously he’s been brought in as the future of the Lakers, it allowed us to see Dallas Luka again, but also to see his evolution and his growth.

“I really love what the Lakers are doing, shoutout to JJ and the coaching staff.

“It’s really good to see the adjustments they are willing to make in year two.

“One of the biggest defensive schemes they’ve made is how Luka is highlighted in the defense, because they know people are going to pick on Luka defensively.

“They’ve done an incredible job that creates a zone around Luka that allows him to play to his strengths.

“It’s been interesting watching an organization bring in a superstar and how they allow him to play to his strengths, and how they play around what we look at as someone’s weaknesses.

“How do you make Luka protected on the floor and play to his strengths, and the other team don’t get to utilize and weaponize his weaknesses.

“This style of play they are playing without LeBron excites everybody, because it’s the future.

“You are not better without him.”

Will the Los Angeles Lakers be better with LeBron James?

Make no mistake about it, the Lakers will gladly welcome back James’ skill set to their rotation.

James is someone who can put up 25+ points, 7+ rebounds and 7+ assists every night.

The only interesting thing to navigate is if anyone else’s production will take a hit with James being heavily featured in the offense.

Will Austin Reaves take a step back or perhaps Rui Hachimura will cool down? If the Lakers can make it all work, they will be very dangerous in the Western Conference.
