Draymond Green is regarded as one of the best defensive players of his generation.
Draymond Green was an instrumental part of the Golden State Warriors‘ dynasty, winning four titles with the Dubs.
Even now, Green is still viewed as an impactful defender for guarding all positions and he can also spread the floor and shoot the three.
It’s for that reason why Green has made it into some all-time conversations when looking at how he impacts the game compared to previous NBA legends.
On Gil’s Arena, former NBA player Brandon Jennings said Green is better than Chicago Bulls legend Dennis Rodman.
Jennings said that the only thing Rodman has over Green is rebounding, but Green is a more impactful defender and shot maker.
However, Eddie Johnson responded to this take from Jennings and made it clear that Rodman is better than Green.
“I would take Dennis Rodman all day long.
“He guarded 5 positions, best rebounder pound for pound in league history and he did it in the most physical era with players like Barkley, Malone, Dream and Kemp etc.
“Paint play non existent in today’s game.”
Rodman’s Detroit Pistons teammate and fellow “Bad Boy,” John Salley, told the TFU podcast last month that Green is not even close to Rodman and that there will never be another player like Rodman in this or any other lifetime.
“Never. Not unless, you know, we open up the portal and let more of those aliens or whatever.
“Not even close. Dennis Rodman is the best defender, outthinker, rebounder. You get 20 points, he gets 20 rebounds. Guaranteed rebounds. The only person he couldn’t shut down was Shawn Kemp.”
While Rodman was a scoring threat early in his career and remains perhaps the greatest rebounder ever, Green offers a more complete offensive skill set.
Green’s superior versatility on defense and his ability to impact the game in varied ways distinguish him from Rodman’s more specialized role.
Ultimately, Green can be considered the better overall player because his diverse skillset exceeds Rodman’s focused dominance on the glass.
