Eric Collins, the voice of the Charlotte Hornets has been nominated for "Sportscaster Of The Year" by the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). This is the first time that Collins, now in his 8th year in the broadcasting booth with the Hornets, has been nominated for the award.

The list of previous winners of the award is highly impressive, with legendary media figures such as Ian Eagle, Scott Van Pelt, Kevin Harlan, Doris Burke, Jime Nantz and Ernie Johnson, all to have won.

Collins, who took over from long time play by play announcer Steve Martin, has gone viral due to his highly energetic calls. Collins and his partner Dell Curry do an admirable job delivering entertainment and analysis for a Hornets team which has struggled more often than not.

The "Sportscaster Of The Year Award" is selected through a nomination and final balloting process. From mid-October through mid-November, NSMA members nominate up to three people for each category. The Top 10 from that nomination process are placed on the final ballot for voting throughout the month of December.

AllHornets.com would like to wish Eric Collins the best of luck with his nomination.
