The Denver Nuggets were at home on Friday night as they hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of their second-round series.
Of course, the series entered Game 3 tied up at a game apiece after the Nuggets were able to steal Game 1 on the road thanks to a comeback in the fourth quarter and a clutch game-winning three-pointer by Aaron Gordon.
Oklahoma City was able to bounce back in Game 2 in dominant fashion as they blew out Denver by 43 points.
In Game 3, the Nuggets were able to pull out a hard-fought overtime victory to regain control of the series despite Nikola Jokic struggling.
Jokic finished the game with 20 points, 16 rebounds and six assists but he shot just 8-of-25 from the field and missed all 10 of his three-point attempts.
While Jokic struggled, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr. and Gordon all stepped up again, including Gordon who hit another clutch shot to send the game to overtime.
With their victory, the Nuggets now take a 2-1 lead in the series and ESPN’s David Dennis Jr. believes they are poised to make a championship run.
“This is just championship-level grit and execution. The Denver Nuggets have won six games this playoff, they probably should have lost four of them and they pulled them off by executing in a level that shows that this team is ready for a championship run,” Dennis Jr. said. “As great as that Thunder defense is, they have not been able to slow (the Nuggets) down.”

While Dennis Jr. does make a solid point about the Nuggets using their experience to close out these close games, they cannot sleep on the Thunder, especially after what they did to them in Game 2.
Despite this, the Nuggets have thrived in close games thus far in the playoffs thanks to their prior championship experience and with them now leading the series 2-1 with Jokic leading the way, they have put the Thunder in a must-win situation in Game 4.
