Another blockbuster trade took place on the final day of the NBA season on Sunday as the Phoenix Suns moved on from Kevin Durant.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns are sending Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and five second-round picks.

This was a massive move by both teams as the Suns officially begin their rebuild while the Rockets add a future Hall of Fame forward to a team coming off finishing second in the Western Conference last season.
While the Rockets were ultimately the winners of the Durant sweepstakes, one of Durant’s other preferred destinations sat back and watched as they already had their minds made up.
That team was the New York Knicks, who were reportedly one of Durant’s top preferred landing spots, though New York had no interest in the superstar forward.
After the Rockets landed Durant from Phoenix on Sunday, ESPN analyst Mike Greenberg went to social media where he sent a clear warning to the Knicks and other teams around the NBA.
“Reposting as we see just how little it cost for the Rockets to acquire this still transcendent player. The Knicks (and others) will regret not making this move,” Greenberg posted on X with a clip from his show Get Up where they discussed Durant’s current impact despite being in the final years of his career.

This was a clear warning by Greenberg and he makes a compelling point, especially with how little Houston had to give up to add Durant.
Of course, the Knicks had already backed out of a trade for Durant but with the package Houston sent to Phoenix, they could have easily have acquired him to pair alongside their core.
Despite this, Phoenix would have likely wanted one or two players of their core, more than likely OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns or Mikal Bridges, but making a move for Durant could have made the Knicks into serious title contenders next season, though fans will never know.
