ESPN reignites Lakers-Celtics rivalry with ranking of best jerseys in NBA history

ESPN released its rankings of the top NBA jerseys of all-time and inadvertently may have reignited the Lakers-Celtics rivalry in the process, as the two storied franchises managed to snag the top two spots on the list. However, it was ultimately the Lakers' Showtime Gold jerseys (worn from 1978-99) that grabbed the top spot over the Celtics' Classic Green (1972-2014).

It's hard to argue against either the Lakers or Celtics landing spots this high on the list, as the two have iconic looks that are the defining jerseys of the NBA for countless fans across generations. But Bostonians will mostly likely be angry to find that their jerseys fall below the Lakers, while Los Angelinos will be delighted to see they have once again bested their most-hated rival.

Unsurprisingly, immediately after the Lakers and Celtics were the Bulls, as Chicago's Road Red landed the third spot on the list. The rest of the top 10 included Orlando's Electric Blue (no. 4), Denver's Rainbow Skyline (no. 5), and Miami's Vice Collection (no. 8). The total list includes 74 jerseys worn over the league's 74-year history and it's sure to stir up some debate online, especially since fans can't currently debate any actual sports being played on TV.

Of course, you can't make a list of the best jerseys without making an accompanying list of the worst jerseys in NBA history and so ESPN also released its list of the 10 most abysmal NBA jerseys ever worn. The list of the worst jerseys was topped by the Sacramento Kings 2005-06 gold alternates, though the Mavericks and Wizards deserve some credit for both securing two spots despite only 10 jerseys being chosen. And, of course, the sleeved jersey craze of 2012-13 was rightfully noted as one of the most unfortunate trends in jersey history.
