ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters has been away from the NBA Finals for three games now as she tends to a personal matter concerning her mom. Something her colleague Mike Breen touched on in the second half of Game 2 between the Pacers and Thunder:
"Lisa's mom has been dealing with some serious health issues for a while now. So we want to send our love to Lisa and her mom," Breen shared. "Although we've never met her mom, we owe her a debt of gratitude for giving us the gift of Lisa Salters, who is the teammate everyone in our business should strive to have."
Salters' presence has certainly been missed on ESPN's broadcasts. But it sounds like the veteran reporter will re-join Breen, Richard Jefferson and Doris Burke for a pivotal Game 5 in Oklahoma City.
According to Front Office Sports' Ryan Glasspiegel, Salters will be back for tonight's telecast. Which hopefully mean's that the health of Lisa's mom has improved enough that she feels comfortable to returning and traveling for her job.
Salters has covered sports at the Worldwide Leader for more than two decades now and has won a Sports Emmy in the "Outstanding Personality/Reporter" category for her work on "Monday Night Football," NBA games on ESPN/ABC and "E60."
We certainly wish the best for Lisa and her family moving forward and can't wait to see her on the sideline come 8:30 PM ET at the Paycom Center.
The Thunder are being given a 60.9% chance to take a 3-2 lead over Indiana, according to ESPN Analytics' Matchup Predictor.
