Evan Mobley has career night; does something only done by LeBron

Evan Mobley did something no one has done since LeBron James on Wednesday.

Mobley had a career night in the Cavs' 115-104 loss to the Rockets, logging a career-high 29 points while pulling in 12 rebounds. Only James has had more points and rebounds in a game as a rookie for Cleveland this century.

Much like James routinely did as a rookie, Mobley had an efficient night en route to his career high. He shot 12-for-20 from the field, although he did go just 5-for-9 from the free throw line.

He got off to a good start, scoring eight points in the first six minutes of play as the Cavs jumped out to an early 17-10 lead. They went largely cold down the stretch though, and the Rockets clawed their way back to take a 32-21 lead into the break.

Mobley and the Cavs both went quiet in the second, as Mobley scored just two points and Cleveland trailed 64-53 going into halftime. The story was largely the same in the third, but the Cavs cut the deficit to just seven.

In the fourth quarter, Mobley really started to heat up, pouring in the Cavs' first 10 points of the period. He cut the Rockets' lead to just three with an and-one bucket with just under three minutes to play, but 10 quick points from Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr. put the game out of reach.

Mobley's 29 eclipsed his previous career high of 26 points scored on Nov. 7 of last year against the Knicks. He's now had at least 12 rebounds four times, with his best mark coming on Jan. 22 against the Thunder when he racked up 17 boards.

With the loss, the Cavs sit at 31-21 and at fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
