Every record Thunder broke in historic rout of Nuggets

When the top-seeded Thunder obliterated the Nuggets in Game 2 on Wednesday, they demonstrated they're not the 2007 Mavericks or 2015 Hawks — a regular-season juggernaut that fizzles out in the playoffs.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co. proved they are legit. After their heartbreaking Game 1 loss, the Thunder marched in like gangbusters and smacked the Nuggets in ways few teams have in playoff history.

Here is a list of every record/feat OKC broke on Wednesday.

Most points in a first half in playoff history

OKC scored 87 points in the first half, shooting 59 percent from the floor and 44 percent from three. For context, the Timberwolves managed 88 points through both halves in their Game 1 loss to the Warriors. The Thunder narrowly eclipsed the previous mark set by the Cavaliers, who scored 86 points in the first half of Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals.

The Thunder also tied the Bucks' record for most points in any playoff half. Milwaukee similarly scored 87 in the second half of its 143-112 win over Denver on April 23, 1978.

Highest plus/minus in a playoff game

SGA was a +51 on the floor in just 30 minutes, setting the new record for the highest plus-minus in playoffs history (play-by-play era). The Toronto native eclipsed the record set by Desmond Bane (+46 in 2022), LeBron James (+46 in 2017) and Jimmy Butler (+46 in 2015).

Multiple 40-point wins in the same postseason

The Thunder's final margin of victory, 149-106, would have been much higher if they hadn't rested their starters in the fourth quarter. Still, the 43-point win meant they became the first team to notch two 40-point wins in the same postseason run.

OKC routed Memphis by 51 in Game 1 of the first round and completed its four-game sweep by an average win margin of 19.5 points.

Franchise record for points

The Thunder set a new franchise playoff record with 149 points, also the 10th-most points scored in a postseason game in NBA history.

It's a remarkable feat considering that recent NBA Finals-bound iterations of the team, including the 1995-96 Supersonics and 2011-12 Thunder, never reached the 140-point threshold in a playoff game.

Nikola Jokic's worst game ever

The byproduct of the Thunder's excellence meant Nikola Jokic, the best player in the world, suffered his worst night as a pro in the NBA.

The Serb was -36 on the floor and glaringly had the same number of turnovers and fouls as assists and baskets made (six). He fouled out in the third quarter of a game for the first time in his career.

Much of the credit for Jokic's stinker goes to the Thunder's defensive scheme. Unlike in Game 1 when Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein guarded Jokic in single coverage, the Thunder swarmed the paint to deny him the ball from the very onset, flustering him into making careless passes and taking uncharacteristic shots.

Points differential record next?

The Thunder, who set the record for highest points differential (12.87) in the regular season, threaten to do the same in the playoffs. They've beaten opponents by a total margin of 119 points through six games.

The Thunder are 111 points shy of the record set by the 2016-17 Warriors, who drubbed opponents by 230 points en route to the NBA title. They are on pace to clinch the record if they make a Finals run.
