Ex-NBA Champion Rips Massive Coverage on Bronny James
Patrick Breen/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

It’s no secret that Bronny James has been in the news a lot these days after his recent draft combine performance. For NBA analyst and former champion Kendrick Perkins, though, that coverage by the media is getting out of hand.

A couple of years ago, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James declared that his final year in the league will be spent with Bronny in one team. In effect, this meant that whoever selected the younger James in the draft will also have the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in the lineup.

Since then, fans, critics, and the media have focused their attention more on Bronny while he is still in high school. Right before he played his first college game, though, LeBron’s eldest son suffered a cardiac arrest due to a congenital heart disease. Fortunately, he recovered just in time to join the USC Trojans in his freshman year.

However, things didn’t go as planned after Bronny didn’t perform well on the court. Over the course of 25 games, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, leading many to label him as a bust even before he reached the league. The thing is, his recent performance at the draft combine made positive waves and placed him in a positive light.

NBA Analyst Kendrick Perkins Blasts Insane Media Coverage on Bronny James

It’s no secret any related to Bronny or his father is sure to gain some traction when released to the public. For his part, Kendrick Perkins criticized the media coverage on the younger James in a video shard by Tyler Rucker on X:

The former NBA champion added that there are other young guys who deserve the attention more than Bronny. By placing the spotlight on LeBron’s son, those who have worked hard for the draft aren’t getting the recognition they earned.

Even if that’s the case, Bronny will still be covered by the media because he and his father sells. Expect things to go crazy if he declares for the draft and gets selected in the coming months.
