The hype around New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson continues to grow as the guard develops in stature as one of the game's finest. After a series of outstanding performances with his team, however, former NBA player Lou Williams stated on "Run it Back" that Brunson could potentially become the greatest Knicks player ever.

"He's already in that conversation," said Williams. "With Willis Reed, with Clyde Frazier, with Patrick Ewing. The impact that he's had in these three short years is just as impactful as everybody else. And if he gets this team to a championship, y'all can close the curtain on it. He's gonna be the new Willis Reed, without the ankle injury."

"He's gonna be one of those guys that's highly revered in New York City," Williams continued. "I love the fact that he embraces it. I love his attitude about it, I love the way he goes about it."

Co-panelist Chandler Parsons also chimed in and shared his agreement with Williams' statement. "Watch the videos of the streets of New York City right now, and that has a lot to do with Jalen Brunson. He's the most clutch player in the NBA. His game just continues to get better."

Drawing a comparison to players like Patrick Ewing, given his contributions to the Knicks fanbase, is no small feat. However, being compared to the likes of Willis Reed and Walt Frazier, who have won the title for the city and etched their names in the franchise's legacy through silverware, is beyond high praise.

Brunson is truly a special talent in this regard. Since joining the Knicks, the guard has seen a gradual but remarkable rise in stature. Having improved with each season, the 28-year-old has embraced the role of the star and leader and has taken this team to heights that were previously unexpected.

The 2x All-Star is entering the prime of his career, and he certainly looks like one of the best guards in the league. The reigning Clutch Player of the Year has stepped up to the plate on every occasion, especially in the playoffs.

After beating Boston in six games, featuring two miraculous comeback wins, the Knicks look like one of the most battle-ready teams going into the conference finals. Brunson's subsequent rise in output has also been a beneficial sight for New York as he averages 28.8 points and 7.7 assists on 45.5% shooting from the field.

The Knicks are heading to the ECF for the first time in almost 25 years, undoubtedly a momentous occasion for the franchise as well as the city. Given the kind of hype that has been built around this team, the inside of Madison Square Garden is bound to be humming with excitement.

The Knicks will host the Indiana Pacers for the first set of games of the ECF. With Game 1 slotted to take place on Wednesday, May 21st at 8:00 pm ET, New York will surely aim to establish early control over this series.
