The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes are just getting started.
With Damian Lillard likely missing all or most of next season, an aging roster, and almost no trade assets, the odds of the Milwaukee Bucks seriously competing next season aren’t great.
Antetokounmpo is signed for another three seasons, but has a player option next summer.
Seeing their franchise player, who led the team to a championship victory in 2021, walk out the door would be detrimental to the Bucks.
When you consider the roster for next season and the state of the team, trading Antetokounmpo might be the only way to fix the future, if he wants out.
The Greek Freak has had an argument for being the world's best basketball player since about 2019, making him an extremely fascinating trade target for a lot of teams.
However, ESPN’s Marc Spears and former NBA player Danny Green shared their thoughts on the situation and believe there’s one team that stands out.

Antetokounmpo on the San Antonio Spurs would just add to the intense battles throughout the western conference. A core of Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and Antetokounmpo immediately becomes one of the best trios in the NBA.
When someone like Antetokounmpo becomes available, sure most teams want him, but who can actually present an enticing offer? San Antonio might be that team.
They currently own picks number 2 and 14 of the first round in the upcoming NBA Draft, which might interest Milwaukee. They also have young talent like Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson.
A mixture of nice draft capital and players who are clearly on the rise for Antetokounmpo might be beneficial for both sides.
The Bucks need to replenish their assets if they think Antetokounmpo will leave and on the other side, the Spurs could burst into contention by adding the former MVP.
