The Boston Celtics have built a three-game winning streak, as Jayson Tatum is back at his best. The one-time NBA champion heads into the All-Star break having scored at least 32 points over his last three outings.
Jayson Tatum has been carrying the scoring load for the Boston Celtics, with co-star Jaylen Brown sidelined due to a knee injury . The six-time NBA All-Star flirted with a triple-double in yesterday’s 116-103 victory over the San Antonio Spurs, notching 32 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists on 12-for-25 shooting from the field.
Tatum is fourth in the updated NBA MVP ladder behind Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
This season, he averages 27.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 45.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Jayson Tatum may not win the league MVP this season, but his current form will only mean bad news for the rest of the NBA, says former Boston Celtics guard Eddie House.
“This is a Jayson Tatum the league should be afraid of. I think he’s making a conscious effort to try to go for the MVP,” House said via NBC Sports Boston.
For February, Tatum averages 29.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 40.6 percent from three-point range.
