The most well-traveled player in NBA history is about to continue his travels, this time as a scout.

Joshua Robbins of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that former NBA guard Ish Smith has been hired by the Washington Wizards as a scout. Smith is now retired after spending last season with the Charlotte Hornets and will be serving as a pro scout for Washington.

Now 36 years old, Smith was famous for his speed as a point guard as well as for playing for an NBA-record 13 teams over the course of his career. The Wizards were one of those teams as Smith played for them from 2019-21 and again in 2022. Smith also won an NBA championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023.

The one-time Wake Forest standout averaged 7.1 points and 3.8 assists per game over his 14 years in the league. As for the Wizards, who were a horrendous 15-67 last season, they are facing some interesting roster decisions heading into 2024-25 and will now rely on their old friend Smith to provide a helping hand.
