Former Gonzaga Forward Drew Timme Earns All G League Honors
USA TODAY Sports

Drew Timme’s professional basketball journey has been arduous and well documented, but the accolades are beginning to pour in.

The former Gonzaga star was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team following a breakout year with the Long Island Nets. The 6-foot-10 forward put together a dominant campaign in the G League, averaging 23.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over 29 games while shooting an efficient 57.4% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.

One of the high points of Timme’s season came in March when he erupted for 50 points on 21-of-26 shooting in a win over Motor City, a performance that earned him G League Player of the Week honors.

His impact on both ends of the floor and leadership in the post helped him stand out in a league filled with rising talent and NBA hopefuls.

Timme’s productivity in the G League didn’t go unnoticed by Brooklyn’s front office. The Nets rewarded his steady rise by signing him to a two-year deal, giving him a real shot to secure a long-term place in the NBA.

He appeared in the final nine games of Brooklyn’s season and made the most of the opportunity, posting averages of 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per contest. He shot 44.1% from the field during that stretch and showed he could handle NBA-level physicality and pace. Timme recorded multiple double-doubles in his efforts for the Nets.

For a player who went undrafted and began the season fighting for attention in the G League, Timme’s path to a guaranteed NBA contract is a testament to his work ethic and skill set.

With his signature footwork in the paint and increasingly reliable jump shot, Timme has positioned himself as a promising frontcourt option for the Nets heading into next season.
