The Los Angeles Lakers are having quite an eventful offseason and free agency so far. While LeBron James picked up his $52.6 million player option to play in the 2025-26 season, his agent Rich Paul made it clear to the Purple and Gold that he wants to compete for a championship.
L.A., for its part, went on to address one of its most pressing roster issues after trading away Anthony Davis for Luka Doncic last season, as they signed center Deandre Ayton. The team also added forward Jake LaRavia to add some much-needed depth to the squad.
Still, compared to other teams that made significant changes — such as the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets — the Lakers certainly pale in comparison.
While plenty of eyes are on the Lakers and what they will do next, a former member of their 2020 championship team also made a significant career decision.
On Thursday, Kostas Antetokounmpo — who is the younger sibling of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo — signed with a new team, albeit not in the NBA.
Greek team Olympiacos announced the addition of Antetokounmpo to the team. According to multiple reports, the 27-year-old forward agreed to a two-year deal to join the club.
Antetokounmpo played for another Greek club, Panathinaikos, to start the 2024-25 season before moving to Spanish club UCAM Murcia midway through the campaign.

After his move, Antetokounmpo took to social media to share his excitement about joining Olympiacos. On his Instagram Stories, he reposted the team's welcome message and captioned it with, "Excited for this New Chapter!!!"
Kostas Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the 60th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was part of the Lakers from 2019 to 2021, although he spent more time in the G League with the South Bay Lakers.
In 20 total games played for the Lakers, Antetokounmpo averaged 1.0 point and 1.1 rebounds in 3.8 minutes per outing. While he won the championship as part of the franchise, he didn't make an appearance in the 2020 NBA playoffs.
