Former LSU Basketball star, Naz Reid, has signed a new five-year, 125-million dollar deal that'll keep him with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the foreseeable future.
Naz Reid is one of the best bench players in the NBA, and now he's getting paid like it. His new deal will earn him an average of 25 million dollars per year, which is on par with the Warriors' Draymond Green.
In his six year NBA career, Naz Reid has quickly become a fan favorite in Minnesota. He has been excellent in his six years with the Timberwolves, averaging double digit points in four of the last five seasons while shooting over 33% from the three every year.
Reid was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year for the 2023-2024 season after averaging 13.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 47.7% from the field and 41.4% from behind the arc, but 2024-2025 was Reid's best season scoring wise. He averaged 14.5 points, a career-high, while knocking down 2.2 threes per game in 27.5 minutes. He shot 46.2% from the field and finished third on the team in scoring as he helped lead the Wolves to the playoffs.
Reid had a player option for next season, making some fans worried he would leave, but the Timberwolves were confident they could retain him. He opted out of the player option to sign this new deal, which will go into effect starting next season.
Reid is one of the best sixth men in the NBA, and this contract reflects just how much the Timberwolves value his skillset.
