He pointed out that while Kevin Durant committed nine turnovers in the game, Ime Udoka deserves the blame. Just a few days back, the 2008 NBA champion lashed out at the Los Angeles Lakers, calling them ‘dead birds.’ However, with the postseason performance the team is delivering, there is very little ground for complaint. Thus, focusing on the Houston Rockets, Kendrick Perkins came up with some interesting phrases.
Playing in Game 2, the Rockets had a must-win situation. Instead, they suffered yet another loss, trailing 0-2 going into game 3. Analyzing their play, the former NBA champion pointed out how the Rockets have been playing it all wrong. Blaming head coach Ime Udoka, Perkins termed the Rockets ‘dumbest.’
“The Rockets are the dumbest team and the most selfish team in the postseason. JJ Reddick is coaching his a-- off so much that he’s coaching circles around Ime Udoka,” said Perkins (video here; warning: viewer discretion advised).
And Perkins did not stop at that. He pointed out that while Kevin Durant committed nine turnovers in the game, Ime Udoka deserves the blame. The 41-year-old stated that despite knowing that the Lakers would double-team Durant, Houston’s head coach repeated the same mistake over and over again.
Meanwhile, despite Perkins going off on the Rockets, Durant had an entirely different take.
Durant was utterly frustrated when he missed game 1 owing to his knees. Unfortunately, despite him dropping 23 points in the game, the Rockets failed to keep up with the Lakers’ offensive dominance. Doubling down on what went wrong, the 37-year-old pointed out that his team played better in every department barring the shooting.
“They feel confident in us not making shots. It’s that simple. We dominated every other aspect of the game, but they dominated in the shotmaking department. We’ve got to be better,” said Durant.
Thus, with the Lakers surging ahead, fans will be looking to see if Ime Udoka’s men can turn it around from here.
