The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors, 117-93, in Game 2 of their second-round meeting on Thursday to tie the series at 1-1.
Without Curry, the Warriors struggled to get their offense going early, and the Timberwolves pounced on the opportunity. They outscored the visitors in the first quarter, 29-15, and never looked back, even leading by as much as 25 points.
Julius Randle spearheaded Minnesota with 24 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists, while Anthony Edwards contributed 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The one-sided affair was marred by an incident in the second quarter after Draymond Green hit Naz Reid on the neck after flailing his elbow. Upon review, the referees whistled him for a flagrant foul.
Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy, who was calling the game for TNT, said Green had no intention to hit Reid. This didn't sit well with former NBA forward Eddie Johnson.
"Stan Van Gundy saying Draymond has no intent popping Naz Reed in his face is egregious! Stop, man," wrote Johnson on X.

The 66-year-old Johnson, who serves as a commentator for the Phoenix Suns, played 17 seasons in the NBA and won as Sixth Man of the Year in 1989.
With the flagrant foul, Green was also called for a technical foul—his fifth in the playoffs. The Warriors veteran is now in danger of getting automatically suspended if he picks up two more.
Green, who had to be held back by Curry when he argued with the referees, had nine points, four rebounds and five assists.
Game 3 between the Warriors and the Timberwolves is on Saturday, 8:30 p.m. ET.
