Former NBA player Iman Shumpert wins 'Dancing With the Stars'

Iman Shumpert became the first former NBA player to become a Dancing With the Stars champion when he was crowned the winner of season 30 on Monday night.

Shumpert, 31, began his career with the New York Knicks, but may be best remembered for his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Shumpert was part of the Cavaliers team that won the 2016 NBA Finals, the only championship victory for the city of Cleveland in a major sport in more than five decades. He later played for the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets.

Earlier in Shumpert's run on Dancing With the Stars, he received an elusive perfect score for a contemporary dance to a remix of “I Got 5 On It” by Luniz that appeared in the movie Us. Shumpert's former teammate LeBron James shared a video of the performance.

Athletes who have won Dancing With the Stars include Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward and Donald Driver, among others. But none of the former NBA players who have appeared on the show -- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Clyde Drexler, Derek Fisher, Rick Fox, Charles Oakley, Lamar Odom and Metta World Peace -- had ever finished top five before Shumpert.
