Last week, The Ringer's Logan Murdock revealed on The Zach Lowe Show that Boston Celtics guard Derrick White is linked to the Golden State Warriors as a possible trade target this offseason. Since the Celtics acquired him in 2022, White has become one of the NBA's best role players. He's helped them reach three Eastern Conference finals, two NBA Finals, and one NBA title. He's also made two NBA All-Defense teams.
While it remains to be seen if that's how the offseason transpires, three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams wholeheartedly approves of the Warriors making a move like that.
On FanDuel's "Run it Back" show. Williams explained why he would be excited by the prospect of White playing for the Warriors.
"I like this a lot," Williams said. "He fits their style. He can shoot the basketball. He's gonna be able to defend. He's tough. He's smart. A very cerebral basketball player. He check all of the boxes for the style of play the Golden State Warriors like to play."
“It’s a spot open for some star power now.” @TeamLou23 LOVES the idea of Derrick White on the Warriors, especially with the injury to Jayson Tatum in Boston. The Celtics could use an injection of some “star power”.

The tricky part is how the Warriors would pull that off. Jonathan Kuminga was floated as a possible return package for Golden State, but the Celtics are not allowed to do sign-and-trades presently. Being above the NBA's second tax apron prevents them from doing so.
For the last three seasons White has played in Boston, he's shot 38.1%, 39.6%, and 38.4% from three-point land, respectively. Though making a deal with Boston would be tricky, the Warriors could certainly use that floor spacing.
