Boston Celtics alum Marcus Morris made some rather curious comments about Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry. The ex-Celtic, who played for the team from 2017 to 2019, didn't necessarily disrespect Curry, but he doesn't hold him as highly as some of the other NBA superstars.
During his appearance on ESPN's First Take, Morris was asked if he thought Curry was the most feared player in the NBA. Curry has won two MVPs and has won four NBA titles throughout his career, and he's still an elite player at 37 years old.
However, despite the accolades and the fact that Curry is still an excellent player in his late 30s, Morris doesn't view him in that light. In fact, Morris thought a former teammate of his was better than Curry.
“I wouldn't go as far as to stay Steph Curry,” Morris said. “He's very respectable, everyone knows Steph Curry, if not the best point guard to ever play the game, right? I gotta disagree with you. You know who I'm going to go to? And I know this is not going to be your favorite, but I'm gonna talk about number two over there with the Clipper Nation, baby. I'm going with Kawhi Leonard.”
This is a controversial take from the former NBA star, especially given Curry has scored a combined 89 points in his last two games.

Morris played with Leonard on the Los Angeles Clippers from 2020 to 2023. Together, they helped the franchise make its first Western Conference Finals in 2021.
The ex-Celtic isn't wrong about how good Leonard is when he's healthy. The problem is that Leonard has not been fully healthy for the duration of a playoff run since 2020. Curry has not only been healthy, but he led the Warriors to their fourth title with him in 2022.
Curry won his first NBA Finals MVP that year over the Celtics, averaging 31.2 points, six rebounds, and five assists while shooting 48.2% from the field and 43.7% from three.
