Make no mistake: Stephen Curry built the Golden State Warriors dynasty. The Warriors without the Baby-Faced Assassin’s one-of-a-kind style of play. Moreover, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green also played a huge part on the team’s historic success in the 2010s.
However, the people who put together such an elite squad also deserves praise. The Warriors front office did a fantastic job in putting together a competitive team that completely revolutionized how the game was played during the 2010s.
Bob Myers stood at the center of the front office that put together multiple championship teams. He masterminded many of the brilliant roster acquisitions that transformed the Dubs into one of the most dominant teams in the league.
While he’s currently working for the Washington Commanders, a rumor is persisting that the controversial Golden State figure may be headed back to the league for another intriguing project.
NBA pundit Bill Simmons revealed in a recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast that Myers may be eyeing a potential return to the league, though he won’t be returning to the Bay Area.
He revealed that Myers may be eyeing the Philadelphia 76ers job as a move he could make should he want to make an NBA return. Per Larry Brown Sports’ Grey Papke:
“Bob Myers helped Washington with the football team. He was on the advisory committee. I just feel like he’s looming with this Sixers thing, and I don’t think I’m alone,” Simmons said. “There’s been some Bob Myers-Philly buzz that I think has been building, because I think he had a good experience with Josh Harris.”
The The Washington Commanders are one of the most exciting teams in the NFL, and Myers being part of the rebuilding project only adds to his impressive front office CV.
The Sixers would be an intriguing project for the former Golden State exec: Joel Embiid and Paul George both look out of sorts with the team, but the team has exciting young talent they can build around if they’re committing to a rebuild.
Myers can cement his legacy as one of the most brilliant front office figures in NBA history if he can transform the Sixers into an exciting contender. However, it may be something not many Warriors fans would wish to see.
