Frustration Grows After Wizards Announce Anthony Davis News

The Anthony Davis era has yet to officially begin for the Washington Wizards. It has been over six weeks since the Wizards brought Davis in via a blockbuster three-team trade with the Dallas Mavericks. However, the 10-time All-Star still hasn’t made his debut for his new team due to injury.

The Wizards gave up a massive haul in exchange for Davis. They agreed to part ways with Khris Middleton, Marvin Bagley and A.J. Johnson, as well as five draft picks. In exchange, Washington received Davis, D’Angelo Russell, Dante Exum and Jaden Hardy.

Davis, however, is still dealing with a finger injury, preventing him from making his long-awaited return to the court.

Davis has been limited to just 20 games this season for the Mavs. During that stretch, the 6-foot-10 big man produced averages of 20.4 points on 50.6% shooting, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.7 blocks in 31.3 minutes per contest.

The Wizards provided an update on Davis’ injury on Friday. He reportedly “continues to progress positively,” but his left hand injury has yet to fully heal. The Wizards announced that Davis will be re-evaluated again at the end of the month.

The Wizards, who are currently 16-53, have 13 games remaining on their schedule. At this point, the possibility of Davis missing the remainder of the season has become increasingly probable.

More than a few fans are not pleased with this development, and they have aired their frustrations on social media.

“How does that even happen to anyone other than him,” a comment on X read.

“This is why he will never get top 10 in all time scoring,” said another.

“Long Story short! Davis aint playing this season! Valor plate (a 6 week injury), blah blah blah blah! Lets use medical terms they've never heard of! Being a Medical professional & listening to these idiotic sports diagnoses are cringworthy!” declared a reader.

“Season ending sore finger,” a reaction read.

“glass bones and paper skin,” another said.

“Isn't he hosting a show during the middle of the week now? Lol,” a fan wrote.

The Wizards have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. They are not playing for anything anymore, which gives them more reason to be extra cautious about Davis’ health.
