Gabe Vincent’s postseason journey with the Los Angeles Lakers may have been short-lived, with two consecutive first-round exits. However, his journey with the Miami Heat painted a different picture.
Over four seasons, the 29-year-old consistently helped lead the team into the playoffs. Reflecting on his journey, Vincent believes that the 2022-23 squad was his favorite, making those moments unforgettable.
“Probably that finals run team in 22-23 — everybody was cool with each other, that always makes it easier…if you rocking with somebody and you in the trenches with them…the route that team had to get to the finals was different, it was tough…stuff like that brings you together a little more. It truly feels like it’s us against the world so that team had a special feel for me,” Vincent said during the recent appearance on Out the Mud Podcast.

Vincent was referring to the dominant squad that includes Bam Adebayo, who recently broke multiple records with his 83-point game. The team also features postseason standout Jimmy Butler and other key players like Caleb Martin.
Vincent played a significant role in the Eastern Conference Finals (ECF) against the Boston Celtics, scoring 29 points in Game 3. However, the point guard struggled with his three-point shooting during the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets, hitting just 33% from beyond the arc.
The Heat ultimately lost the series in five games. Although that was Vincent’s final season in Miami, the point guard reflects on his time there as amazing. Recently, he recalled an incident where Heat president Pat Riley personally traveled to meet him during free agency.
Vincent may not be the league’s star, but he’s shared the court with legends like LeBron James and Jimmy Butler over the last six seasons. In a recent chat on the ‘Out the Mud’ podcast, he opened up about the unique experiences of playing with LeBron versus Jimmy and the media spotlight that comes with being a Laker.
“I been on the floor with Jimmy when he’s in go mode. When he’s in go mode he’s a similar type of player. I’ve seen him stand toe to toe with Bron in 2020 playoffs. He can be that guy to some extent. Obviously Bron is Bron but he can be the guy who wants the floor spaced and attack every play — playing with Bron people talk about it but he thinks the game so well that when he breaks right, you have to break right even harder…. The media a whole different story,” Vincent said.
