After a years-long saga between Glen Taylor and the partnership of Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, the Minnesota Timberwolves' ownership is finally changing hands.
Taylor has agreed to transfer full ownership to the pair for $1.5 billion. It was nearly headed to a vicious battle between the two parties, but the longtime owner finally gave the final order to hand the franchise to the new owners.
This is a big deal for the Timberwolves because they won't have to walk on eggshells anymore with ownership. Lore and Rodriguez are willing to show up at games and support the team anywhere they can.
They already have a standing relationship with the franchise. This time, it is official because Taylor is out of the picture. The new ownership also opens the door for stronger relationships with other people, including franchise icon Kevin Garnett, who recently gave his take on the events.
Now that the Timberwolves and Lynx are with Lore and Rodriguez, this marks a new era for both franchises. The Lynx are one of the best WNBA teams, as they were in the Finals during the 2024 season.
Like the Timberwolves with Anthony Edwards, the Lynx have a superstar in Nepheesa Collier. That bodes well for both teams' futures because they should expect further investment from Lore, Rodriguez, and the rest of the ownership group.
With the new owners coming in, the Timberwolves will get some new experiences. A big one is repairing the organization's relationship with Kevin Garnett. This has been a long time coming because he has a fractured relationship with the Timberwolves due to his feud with Taylor.

Now, he is pleased to see Lore and Rodriguez get the nod. He has openly communicated with the new owners, which could open the door for a jersey retirement ceremony.
"I don’t know. I’ve talked to Marc and Alex before and yeah, I’m sure we’ll have another positive conversation," Kevin said on Ticket & The Truth. "That’s all I want, to be on the same page though, you know what I’m saying? I want to be on the same page. A lot of the concerns that I have or at least some of the things that I want to actually grow and develop in Minnesota have nothing to do with the court."
Now that a legend like Garnett has shown his approval for the new owners, that should embolden the rest of the fan base. The Timberwolves are doing well in the NBA, while the Lynx look mighty in the W. As long as they maintain their progress with support from ownership, both teams look primed to succeed.

Garnett's support is significant for the owners because they are getting a big name to support them. KG might not be as active as he once was as a player, but his support from afar will matter to everyone in the organization and the state of Minnesota.
With Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels set to play in Minneapolis for the foreseeable future, the team is in good hands. That could get even better through Lore and Rodriguez's support, as they will always be connected to the team now with Taylor's exit.
