Georges Niang to miss start of Jazz camp with foot injury

Jazz forward Georges Niang has suffered a fourth metatarsal stress reaction in his left foot during offseason workouts, the team announced. He’ll be reevaluated in two weeks.

Niang, 32, has bounced around quite a bit since the trade deadline. The Cavaliers dealt him (along with Caris LeVert ) to the Hawks in February as part of the package that brought De’Andre Hunter to Cleveland.

He was then flipped to the Celtics this summer in the Kristaps Porzingis deal, before eventually landing in Utah, where he played from 2017–21.

Niang appeared in 79 games last season, averaging 9.9 points and 3.4 rebounds while providing steady shooting and veteran leadership. He shot 40.6 percent on 3-pointers.

The Jazz view him as a stabilizing locker-room presence for their young roster, though his return will depend on how the foot responds to treatment.
