Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have not had the 2025-26 NBA season they envisioned, entering their doubleheader against the Orlando Magic with a 21-29 record. However, the Bucks have begun to find their rhythm, riding a three-game winning streak after a victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
Giannis has missed the past six games for Milwaukee after suffering a right calf strain in a Jan. 23 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Even so, the two-time MVP has continued to produce in his 13th NBA season, averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, despite being the subject of trade rumors ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
But away from basketball, Giannis has continued to expand his brand through investments in other sports, purchasing minority stakes in several professional teams. Those include the Milwaukee Brewers, Nashville SC and the Los Angeles Golf Club. Yet the “Greek Freak” wasn't done there, adding a fourth professional sports team to his off-court portfolio.
On Saturday, Giannis announced a partnership with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian Sr. to join the ownership group of the Chelsea FC women’s team. The London-based club competes in the Women’s Super League, England's top women's league, and is one of the most prominent women’s soccer teams in the world, ranking 10th-most valuable at an estimated $250 million.
Giannis and Ohanian now join majority owner Todd Boehly and BlueCo at Chelsea FC. The American-based investment consortium purchased the Chelsea men’s team in 2022 before adding the women’s team two years later. And as of Saturday, Chelsea FC Women sit third in the league and are aiming to win their seventh consecutive Women’s Super League title.
"I’m proud and honored to partner with my friend @alexisohanian, joining the ownership group of @chelseafcw, a historic club built on passion, excellence, and a winning culture," Giannis wrote on Instagram. "Chelsea’s history speaks for itself, and I’m excited to contribute to the future by supporting continued growth and impact in women’s sport. This is about ambition, legacy, and pushing the game to new heights. Up the Chels! "
While Giannis is still a few weeks away from a potential return from injury, the Bucks will look to make it four-straight wins on Monday, hitting the road to face the Orlando Magic at 7:30 p.m. ET.
