Giannis Antetokounmpo has funny reaction to MVP announcement

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who admittedly loves trolling the internet, had an amusing reaction to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being named MVP on Wednesday.

Antetokounmpo wondered if Shams Charania's account "got hacked" after the ESPN reporter broke the news of SGA winning MVP.

The post was likely a callback to Tyrese Haliburton and others wondering if Charnia's account was hacked when he broke the news of the Mavericks trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers in early February. Charania, too, felt his account was hacked when he received word of the blockbuster Doncic-Anthony Davis transaction.

Some believe Antetokounmpo was slandering the voters who overwhelmingly voted for SGA in the MVP race. According to the final vote count, SGA received 71 first-place votes, while Nikola Jokic got 29.

To the surprise of many, Antetokounmpo did not receive any first-place votes despite a historic season that saw him average 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists on 60.1 percent shooting. The "Greek Freak" became the first player in NBA history to average 30/10/5 at 60 percent shooting for two consecutive seasons — a feat eluding even Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson. Remarkably, Antetokounmpo did not finish among the final two in MVP voting in either season.

Antetokounmpo's future is expected to dominate all headlines during the NBA offseason. The Bucks superstar is reportedly "open-minded" about exploring options outside of Milwaukee for the first time in his career. With Damian Lillard (Achilles) expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season, the Bucks are rumored to blow up the roster and start anew.
