The Thursday trade deadline was dominated by talks revolving around Giannis Antetokounmpo. But as the deadline approached, the Milwaukee Buckspreferred to keep their star.

He will at least be with the team through the 2025-26 season. After the deadline, the Bucks star also posted a cryptic message on X implying he may remain with the franchise past the current season.

The Bucks forward has been out of action since Jan. 23 due to a strained right calf. Here is Antetokounmpo’s injury status after missing six straight games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Can Return Soon

On Monday, ESPN NBA reporter Jamal Collier wrote an article speculating Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks. Collier also focused on the Bucks forward’s injury and noted that the original timetable was four to six weeks.

There is a chance that he returns on the shorter end of the timeline, meaning in four weeks.

In that case, Antetokounmpo can hit the floor right after the NBA All-Star break, as the four weeks will be completed by then. According to Collier, the Bucks forward could be aiming to return on Feb. 20 against the New Orleans Pelicans, which will be the Bucks' first game after the break and exactly four weeks since the injury.

“When Antetokounmpo strained his right calf on Jan. 23, his second calf injury of the season, he estimated it would sideline him for four to six weeks. Although the Bucks did not release a specific timeline for his return, sources told ESPN that Antetokounmpo could be aiming to come back on the shorter end of his projected window: Four weeks from his initial injury would be Feb. 20, the team's first game following the All-Star break,” wrote Collier.

Antetokounmpo has missed 20 games thus far and is dealing with his second calf injury this season. The Bucks are 15-15 with him and are 6-14 without him.

The team is 21-29 (12th in the East). The Bucks are in danger of missing the postseason, but a strong Antetokounmpo-led push can still propel them to at least a spot in the play-in tournament.

The Bucks forward has been exceptional as always, tallying 28 points, 10 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game. He is shooting a career-high 64.5% from the field and has made 0.5 3-pointers per game on a career-high 39.5% clip.

Antetokounmpo was voted to his 10th straight All-Star team as a starter, but he won’t be playing during the All-Star Game on Sunday due to his calf injury.

Milwaukee visits the Orlando Magic at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday.
