Giannis Antetokounmpo is the star Thunder should cash in for

Looking back through NBA history, few teams have put together as successful a rebuild as the Oklahoma City Thunder. Along with a promising young core led by an MVP-level talent, they've stockpiled an abundance of draft capital.

As GM Sam Presti continued to build up his war chest, one glaring point has always been brought up. With far more available draft picks than roster spots, eventually, he'll have to move off them. The Thunder have yet to do so, but should change that this offseason.

Following another first-round exit, the Milwaukee Bucks find themselves in a rough spot. They've cashed in almost all of their assets, leaving them minimal options to improve the roster moving forward. On top of this, Damian Lillard will likely miss a good portion of next season due to the Achilles injury he suffered in the playoffs.

Given the Bucks' current situation, speculation has begun on whether the franchise should move on from Giannis Antetokounmpo. If they decide to do so, the Thunder should be first in line with a godfather offer.

OKC has built up an endless list of assets waiting for the right star to become available, and Giannis could be that player. If the Thunder cashed in all their chips on him, it could result in a dynasty.

Regarding how big of an offer the Thunder can put together for Giannis, they have nine first-round picks at their disposal from 2026 to 2031. If that isn't enough, Presti has also stockpiled 16 second-round picks in that same stretch.

At the age of 30, Giannis still has a handful of years at the peak of his powers. Pairing him with a fellow MVP finalist in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would instantly give the Thunder the best star duo in the NBA. On top of this, they'd have a pair of superstars who pride themselves on both ends of the floor.

The Thunder would likely have to give up a promising young talent in this trade, and Jalen Williams should be that player in this scenario. Chet Holmgren has a far better skill set to thrive as a third option, especially with his ability to anchor a defense. Pairing an All-Star in Williams along with endless first-round picks, the Bucks wouldn't be able to say no.

With Giannis and SGA leading the charge, the Thunder would be a perennial NBA Finals contender for at least the next five years. They'd have Holmgren to play a Chris Bosh-type role in their Big Three, along with an array of complementary role players.

No matter what the Thunder accomplish in the postseason, they should closely monitor Giannis' situation this summer. OKC can easily outbid the entire market, paving a clear path for it to secure a massive addition that could yield it multiple championships.
