Giannis Antetokounmpo was not happy with the Indiana Pacers fanbase’s hostile welcome back for Myles Turner.

After one of the most inspired runs to the NBA Finals, the Indiana Pacers faced a shocking blow in the offseason when Myles Turner left to join the Milwaukee Bucks.

In the immediate aftermath of his departure, Turner took a dig at Pacers fans, hinting that they never truly made him feel welcome.

After more provocative comments, Turner had to deny taking shots at the Pacers, suggesting that he was only focused on his new team.

Well, these comments were bound to have a reaction from the fanbase, and last night, during Turner’s first game against the Pacers, they let him know how they really feel.

Giannis Antetokounmpo unhappy with Indiana Pacers fans booing Myles Turner

During the pre-game introductions, the Indiana Pacers aired a tribute video for Myles Turner, which led to many fans booing the center. Turner would respond with a gesture hinting at closing the book on them.

After the game, Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke to reporters about the situation that Myles Turner faced and expressed his frustration with the Pacers fanbase.

Antetokounmpo urged the Pacers fanbase to have more empathy for Turner, as he gave it his all for the 10 years he was on the team.

“Before the game, we could not stress to Myles how important it was to win this game for him… We are here to pick him up, tell him how much we love him and respect him…

“Anybody that was booing him or was booing the Bucks, you can boo the Bucks, I understand. But Myles Turner, just put yourself in that position…

“I know it’s sport, I understand. But sometimes it’s bigger than sports. I don’t know if he’s gonna say it, but he’s gonna go back home and think, ‘Okay, 10 years just went down the drain.’

“That’s not fair to anybody who gave 10 years to the game and 10 years to the Pacers. All the booing, it was just me trying to show camaraderie, encouragement to my teammate.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo mocked Indiana Pacers fans after the game

This was a more measured response from Giannis Antetokounmpo. But right after the game was offered, he took a more mockery-based approach towards the Pacers fanbase.

For now, the Bucks will focus on themselves and the fairly strong start they’ve had to the season. Currently, the Bucks are 5-2 to start the season.

Few expected the Bucks to be this dominant at the start of the season, given the turbulent offseason that they had.

But they are surpassing expectations with their performances. And if they can make some noise in the Eastern Conference, it could be a good sign for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the team.
