Giannis Antetokounmpo has been predicted to request a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2025-26 NBA season.

The Bucks have won only one playoff series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst was very busy this offseason. He waived and stretched Damian Lillard, signed Myles Turner, Gary Harris and Amir Coffey and re-signed Bobby PortisKevin Porter Jr.Gary Trent Jr.Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims.

However, NBA writer Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report thinks Antetokounmpo will ask out of Milwaukee before the 2026 NBA trade deadline.

“Though Giannis Antetokounmpo has typically applied pressure to the Bucks in the offseason, which he did again this year by leaving his future plans undefined, he’s going to see the writing on the wall during the 2025-26 campaign and conclude there’s only one correct reaction,” Hughes wrote.

Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed the superstar to a three-year, $175 million extension in October 2023. There is no no-trade clause in the contract.

One of the top players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star. The Greek Freak has career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.

On August 4, NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo was still evaluating his future with Milwaukee. It will be fascinating to see what Antetokounmpo decides to do.

“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”
