There hasn’t been any new progress with the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo regarding a potential trade. Despite the rough start to the 2025-26 NBA season, both sides have remained loyal to each other. However, that doesn’t mean that trade rumors aren’t as rampant.

Antetokounmpo’s future is still a hot topic around the league. Many believe he will be traded and won’t be in Milwaukee for very long. The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer discussed on Tuesday that the Miami Heat could be a potential landing spot for the Greek Freak. Fischer pointed out that although the Heat have remained silent, that doesn’t mean they aren’t lurking in the shadows.

“I haven’t heard much on the Heat in terms of what they’re proactively trying to achieve. I think Miami is definitely right there with any team waiting to see whether or not Giannis is becoming available now or in summer,” Fischer said.

However, the Heat aren’t the only team interested in acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo. According to The Sporting News’ Stephen Noh , there are five other teams rumored to be waiting for an update on Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks. The New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs have all been linked to the nine-time All-Star.

Interested teams don’t have enough to make a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo could instantly make a team a contender. This is why several teams have been interested in trading for the big man. However, The Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that the teams rumored to be interested in trading for Antetokounmpo don’t have enough assets.

However, those who have had enough don’t want to make any significant roster adjustments.

“The teams that have the most to offer — chief among them Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Houston — don’t appear eager to make that sort of monumental move at the moment,” Amick wrote.

“The franchises that have reasons to be more motivated — from Miami (Heat) to Minnesota (Timberwolves), Golden State, Atlanta (Hawks) and Toronto (Raptors) — all bring complications when it comes to satisfying the Bucks’ lofty desires in a potential deal.”

The Bucks could demand a lot from teams in a potential Antetokounmpo trade.
