According to reports, the Milwaukee Bucks are set to sit down and meet with Giannis Antetokounmpo about his future with the team in the coming days. This comes amid rampant rumors about the former back-to-back MVP potentially wanting a move away from Milwaukee following their first-round NBA playoffs exit.
While there is currently a lot of uncertainty surrounding Antetokounmpo's future with the Bucks, his brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, announced some big news on Tuesday.
"I’m back, I’m back," Thanasis Antetokounmpo said during a live taping of his "Thanalysis Show" podcast on Tuesday, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo has officially announced his intention to return following a season-ending Achilles injury that cut his 2023-24 campaign short. The 6-foot-7 forward ended up missing the entire 2024-25 season because of the injury.
It is important to note that Thanasis Antetokounmpo has been with the Bucks since 2020. He did not sign a contract with the team last year because of his injury, but it now remains to be seen if Milwaukee's front office will offer him a new deal now that he's revealed that doctors have given him the clearance to return to basketball.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo's announcement comes at a very timely and crucial period for the Bucks in terms of his brother's current standing with the team. There's no denying that Giannis Antetokounmpo loves playing with his brother, and it's not impossible to think that this development could influence his decision to remain in Milwaukee, assuming that the Bucks offer Thanasis Antetokounmpo a new deal.
In his five seasons in Milwaukee, Thanasis Antetokounmpo has produced averages of 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per contest.
