Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are presumably heading into an ugly divorce in the summer.
There’s no doubt that the Bucks were a major disappointment this season. With just a 32-50 record, not only did they miss the playoffs, but they were hounded by multiple rumors, too, especially when it comes to Giannis. And those severely affected how the team performed on the court. Will their two-time league MVP ask for a trade in the offseason? Well, all signs certainly point that way.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks’ key front office figures haven’t communicated once since the trade deadline,” per Evan Sidery via a report from Shams Charania.

For further context, the Bucks did entertain calls from other teams, weighing what Antetokounmpo’s market would be. The Golden State Warriors went all in before being rebuffed at the trade deadline.
With one more year left on his contract, Giannis would certainly like to be moved if an opportunity arises. And for the Bucks, it looks like they want a reset, too.
Whatever Giannis says, it will be magnified by the media. Several teams are salivating at the prospect of adding the one-time champ to their roster. Whichever team trades for him, they will be elevated to title contention. That’s why when Antetokounmpo was asked about his favorite vacation spot, his answer drew some conclusion that he’s already made up his mind about the next chapter of his career.
“Miami. Miami, Miami. I think L.A. is superficial. I don’t like L.A,” Giannis Antetokounmpo answered.
Should his preference to vacation in Miami instead of LA mean something? It surely does. The Miami Heat does have a legitimate interest in acquiring the Bucks star. Can a deal be made in the offseason? There’s a high chance that it could materialize, especially if Giannis and the Bucks’ front office continue their non-communication.
