The New York Knicks were able to pick up a crucial victory on Monday night in Game 1 of their first-round series against the Boston Celtics.
Of course, the Knicks finished the regular season winless in four games against the Celtics and most of those games ended in blowouts.
Monday’s game looked like it could be heading towards another blowout loss for New York before they were able to make an incredible 20-point second half comeback to force overtime.
In overtime, the Knicks were able to complete the 108-105 victory behind multiple impressive defensive plays from Mikal Bridges as they took a 1-0 lead in the series on the road.
Jalen Brunson led the way for the Knicks with 29 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter, to go along with four rebounds and five assists.
OG Anunoby also scored 29 points while Karl-Anthony Towns posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds despite being in foul trouble.
It was an impressive victory for the Knicks and one that caught the eye of the New York Giants’ top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Abdul Carter.
“I think I’m turning into a Knicks fan,” Carter posted on X. “That game had me hype!! LFG New York!”

That game had me hype!! LFG New York!
Of course, Carter a linebacker from Penn State, was selected third overall by the Giants in the draft a few weeks ago.
It is clear that the Giants’ top pick is already embracing the New York lifestyle as he is already supporting the other sports teams from the area which has been seen a lot among the many historic franchises in New York.
With their victory in Game 1 on Monday, Brunson and the Knicks will now look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead on the road on Boston on Wednesday night before heading home for Game 3 and 4.
