The Warriors face what may be their toughest challenge yet as they play the Minnesota Timberwolves without superstar Steph Curry. The good news for Golden State is that, while Curry is the leader of the team, he isn’t the only shooter. There are a couple of other guards on the Warriors who should be stepping up, considering the absence of Curry, who are worth picking up for DFS. Whether or not it will be enough to beat Minnesota is less certain, though.

Lock of the Game

Anthony Edwards

Minnesota Timberwolves

VS

Golden State Warriors

(1-0)

The 23 points that Anthony Edwards scored in Game 1 have been on the lower side of his scores throughout the playoffs. The bottom line is that there is no defender or scheme that can handle Anthony Edwards. He will always find a way to barrel through the lane and get the ball in the hoop. If he gets his jumpshot in a rhythm, then he is twice as deadly as well. Edwards was 1-5 from three-point range in Game 1, so in the event that he is more accurate in Game 2 (which is very likely), he should outscore his 23-point total from Game 1.

Start ‘Em

Buddy Hield

Minnesota Timberwolves

(0-1)

So, throughout the season, Brandin Podzeimski was often considered the secondary shooter to Steph Curry. In the playoffs, though, that role has fallen to Buddy Hield. While some fans are still grinning from his 33-point game against Houston, Hield led the team against Minnesota with 24 points as well. With Curry gone, Hield should be seeing more playing time and shooting the ball much more often as well. That makes him a great pick for DFS at 11.4 K.

Julius Randle

Minnesota Timberwolves

VS

Golden State Warriors

(1-0)

Randle has quietly been one of the most reliable scorers on the Timberwolves. He hasn’t scored below 18 since Game 1 of the Lakers series. Even though he was 0-3 in his last game, Randle has proven that he can score up close and from far away. Since the Warriors use a small lineup anyway, Draymond Green will likely be guarding Rudy Gobert for the game, which should be very freeing for Randle. He is worth 14.4 K, but that’s the most reliable Timberwolf to start aside from Anthony Edwards.

Sit ‘Em

Rudy Gobert

Minnesota Timberwolves

VS

Golden State Warriors

(1-0)

Certainly, Gobert is a prolific defender and rebounder. When it comes to scoring, though, Gobert has struggled slightly in the Playoffs. The one exception to that was Game 5 against the Lakers, when Gobert scored 27. The Lakers had a very different frontcourt, though. The Warriors do have Draymond Green, who at least won’t let Gobert do whatever he wants. Gobert also might not be in the offensive game plan for Minnesota; they might be better off giving the ball to Edwards, feeding Randle, or kicking the ball out to Jayden McDaniels.

Draymond Green

Golden State Warriors

AT

Minnesota Timberwolves

(0-1)

Green actually had a great Game 1, scoring 18 points. That’s been the most he has scored in the playoffs, though; he didn’t reach 18 at all against the Rockets. This is partially the result of tough matchups; Green has been forced to play the center role against Alperen Sengun and now Rudy Gobert. That’s why Green might not hit 18 points again, though. Gobert can put in a better effort to shut Green down offensively, and he could easily go back to single digits.

Fade of the Game

May 6, 2025; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo (0) dribbles around Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30) in the first quarter during game one of the second round for the 2025 NBA Playoffs at Target Center. Donte DiVincenzo

Minnesota Timberwolves

VS

Golden State Warriors

(1-0)

At times, Donte DiVincenzo has proven to be a decent outside shooter. Game 1 was a really poor night for him, though. He played 33 minutes, only scored seven points, and went 1-7 from three-point range. He probably won’t have as bad a night again for the rest of the series, but those numbers aren’t promising at all. DiVincenzo is also a bench player in a playoff series where the starters are going to get more work than usual, so he isn’t a good recommendation for DFS.
