Golden State Warriors Dealt Another Injury Blow as Key Center Heads to Locker Room With Leg Issue

There’s a lot on the plate for the Golden State Warriors, yet they can’t eat all of them. While there’s already speculation about a deal working out, given their injury struggles, nothing seems to favour them in the odds at the moment.

The latest blow came in a rather surprising way at the worst possible time, with second-year center Quinten Post suffering another setback during Sunday’s 116-93 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Post, who had just returned after missing three games, lasted fewer than five minutes before limping off the floor with a lower right leg issue. The team later confirmed he would not return due to right foot soreness, adding to a growing list of concerns for a roster already hit hard by “unpredictable” injuries.

The timing is particularly frustrating for Golden State. The young center has been a steady contributor this season, averaging 7.8 points and 4.0 rebounds, and his presence has been important in stabilizing the frontcourt rotation. Instead, his early exit further disrupted an already thin lineup.

Despite the setback, Kristaps Porzingis provided a bright spot. The veteran big man continued his strong run, finishing with 23 points in under 29 minutes, including a perfect 5-of-5 performance from beyond the arc. His hot start helped the Warriors build a 53-46 lead at halftime.

That momentum did not last too long as Denver responded with a dominant 40-21 third quarter and controlled the final period to seal a comfortable win. Nikola Jokic led the way with a triple-double, while Golden State struggled to keep pace defensively.

Is This The Right Time for the Golden State Warriors To Pursue Kawhi Leonard?

The Golden State Warriors have made one thing clear in recent months: they are not content with standing still.

After aggressively pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline, reports revealed that Kawhi Leonard was also a serious target. While no deal materialized, the intent speaks volumes about where the franchise stands as it approaches a critical offseason.

The fit, on paper, is obvious as Leonard’s two-way impact, playoff pedigree, and ability to operate in half-court settings align seamlessly with a core built around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Add Kristaps Porzingis into that mix, and Golden State would have a versatile lineup capable of competing with the West’s elite.

Though before committing a full-blown package, the Clippers star’s health could not be ignored, and committing significant assets or salary to another injury-prone star could complicate an already delicate roster structure.

The Warriors are also balancing short-term contention with long-term flexibility, especially with future free agency plans in mind.
