Golden State Warriors: Draymond Green Drops Truth Bomb on Future With Dubs
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green still has a lot of gas left in the tank. There’s no denying, however, that at the age of 34, the four-time All-Star is nearing the end of his decorated NBA tenure.

If you ask him, though, Green would like to retire as a Warrior. That is, of course, under the assumption that Golden State still wants him.

Golden State Warriors News: Draymond Green Gets Real on Dubs Future

According to Green, he isn’t closing the door on potentially joining a different team to chase his fifth career championship. However, the 11-year vet has also made it abundantly clear that he would much rather stay in the Bay Area — regardless of whether an opportunity for another ring is on the table or not:

“The Warriors would have to not want me anymore,” he said on a recent appearance on Shaquille O’Neal’s The Big Podcast. “If I had to stay in Golden State another five years and we not make the playoffs for five years straight, I’m totally fine with that … I’d rather struggle with the same guys I succeeded with.

“… As long as they will have me, I got no reason to ever want to leave that place.”

At this point, the Warriors are at a bit of an impasse. They know that they are still talented enough to compete for a championship, especially with Stephen Curry still in his prime. However, what we learned this past season is that Steph can’t do it alone. It is clear that he needs more help, which should be one of the top priorities for the front office this summer.

Regardless of which path they take, however, what cannot be denied is that Green is going to ride and die with the Warriors.
