Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green doesn’t shy away from things or ideas he finds dear to him.

The Michigan State product always finds a way to express himself on the hardwood or through his podcast. It’s clear that the four-time champion will always find a way to make himself heard as long as he’s still playing in the league.

However, everyone knows how fleeting an NBA career is. The recent announcements of Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony as Hall of Famers were a clear reminder to fans that time continues to trudge on, and our favorite players will eventually have to call it a day.

NBC Bay Area reports Green being present in Meski’s ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Meski—located at Larkin and Post—is a newly opened restaurant that Green started with local restauranteur Guma Fassil, with Top Chef alum Nelson German leading the kitchen to provide a fusion of Ethiopian, Afro-Latin, and Dominican flavors.

“I come from Saginaw, MI, I had nothing. And I was always told, don’t ever invest into restaurants,” Green joked in the ceremony attended by San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and Assemblyman Matt Haney.

However, he explained that his venture was for the betterment of the Bay Area:

“The reality is I didn’t put my money into [a] restaurant; I put my money into people and the city.

“We’re going to continue to take this city to new heights, and this is just the beginning. Everybody, please stay on board. There will be some hard times, it will not all be easy. We’re gonna continue to push the city to where it needs to be.”

Green is putting up a solid season for the Warriors. The 35-year-old forward is putting up 9.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks a game.
