One source close to the process says Ball is indeed expected to land in the Western Conference via the buyout market. https://t.co/URcNCZT5b7
Lonzo Ball is averaging 4.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this season while shooting 30.1% from the field, 27.2% from beyond the arc and 66.7% from the free-throw line. The Cavaliers acquired the UCLA product from the Chicago Bulls last offseason.
The 28-year-old Ball was the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Bulls and Cavaliers. The California native holds career averages of 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
Golden State traded Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porziņģis at the trade deadline. As of this writing, the Warriors are in eighth place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 28-24.
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t moved at the trade deadline. The Warriors aggressively tried to trade for the future Hall of Famer, who is with the same agency as Stephen Curry.
Golden State won the 2022 NBA championship against the Boston Celtics in six games. The Warriors haven’t advanced past the second round of the playoffs since then. They lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2025 conference semifinals in five games after beating the Houston Rockets in the first round in seven games.
