In a bold February trade, the Golden State Warriors shook things up by sending guard Buddy Hield and forward Jonathan Kuminga to the Atlanta Hawks for star big man Kristaps Porzingis. The 2024 NBA Champion is reportedly considering a long-term future with the Warriors, and it seems like the Dubs are on the same page.
As the offseason approaches, Porzingis will hit the market as an unrestricted free agent, has become a top priority for the Warriors. Insider Brett Siegel reports that the team is eager to ink a deal quickly, signaling its strong commitment to strengthening its roster for the upcoming season.
“Early talks surrounding Porzingis’s projected contract point in the direction of a deal somewhere in the $18 million to $24 million per year range on a 1+1 type of contract involving a player option. As for Green, his $27.7 million player option holds the key to the Warriors’ offseason,” Siegel wrote in his recent reports.

Since joining the team, Porzingis has made 12 appearances, averaging 17.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
Porzingis has faced major health issues during the last postseason. He dealt with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which has affected his time with both the Hawks and the Warriors, including a two-week absence. Due to his disappointing season, Porzingis lacks confidence in his long-term future with the Warriors.
“It’s hard to say. Of course, it would be nice for me to go ahead and say, ‘Yes, I want to continue here,’ and this and that. But the reality is I didn’t have a good year at all. I barely showed what I’m capable of. And so I have to see what’s out there.” Porzingis said to The Athletic.
