Golden State Warriors Reportedly Trading Patrick Baldwin Jr.
USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards  had agreed to a blockbuster trade that sends Jordan Poole to the Wizards and Chris Paul to the Warriors.

During the NBA Draft (on Thursday evening), Charania reports that Patrick Baldwin Jr. has been added to the deal.

Charania: "The Warriors are trading Patrick Baldwin Jr. to the Wizards as part of the Chris Paul-Jordan Poole trade, sources said."

Charania then reported that the Warriors would use the 57th overall pick from the Wizards to draft former Indiana Hoosiers star Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported more context behind why Baldwin Jr. is being traded to the Wizards.

Via Slater: "The Warriors, per @ShamsCharania , are essentially flipping the Patrick Baldwin Jr. roster spot (and first round contract) for Trayce Jackson-Davis on a cheaper second round contract. Older prospect. This part of CP-Poole trade will be judged on which player is better quicker."

Baldwin Jr. was the 28th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and appeared in 31 regular season games for the Warriors this past season.

The 20-year-old averaged 3.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 39.4% from the field and 38.1% from the three-point range.

As for Jackson-Davis, he played four seasons for the Hoosiers and had a fantastic career in Bloomington, Indiana.

The 22-year-old finished his senior season with averages of 20.9 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.9 blocks per contest while shooting 58.1% from the field.
