The Golden State Warriors are looking to finally make some moves, with one former Rookie of the Year catching their eye.
The Golden State Warriors have been the quietest team in the offseason, making no trades or signings so far.
Despite not having the best roster, the Warriors have done little to upgrade their pieces. Currently, the Warriors have no players to help Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
The Warriors must build around Curry and Butler, but haven’t done anything to ensure that the two stars have a competitive roster.
To make matters worse, the Warriors lost Kevon Looney in free agency, who chose to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans.
But could they finally be ready to pull the trigger on some moves? It appears one point guard has caught their eye in recent days.
According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, the Golden State Warriors are looking to bolster the point guard spot by signing Malcolm Brogdon.
Siegel heard of the Warriors’ interest in the former Rookie of the Year winner. Brogdon is still a free agent and could be a strong pickup on a minimum contract.
“Another name worth mentioning that was connected to the Dubs in Las Vegas is Malcolm Brogdon. The former Sixth Man of the Year has held out in free agency to this point despite multiple suitors contacting him in recent weeks.
“He would be an excellent addition on a minimum contract for a team like Golden State, which desperately needs a lead guard in their second unit.”
Brogdon, despite playing on a weak Washington Wizards team, had a decent season, averaging 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
Brett Siegel also added that the Golden State Warriors’ current inability to address the Jonathan Kuminga situation has caused their current inactivity.
“The Dubs’ main problem is that there simply isn’t a market for Kuminga right now. This situation could drag on into August, which continues to stall other deals the team has lined up in free agency.”
The Warriors and Kuminga have held numerous discussions about his future, but haven’t come to terms on a new deal yet.
The Warriors are looking to sign Kuminga and trade him later. However, the two sides aren’t able to work things out, as Kuminga is demanding a $30 million P/A salary.
We’ve heard that the Warriors roster wants Kuminga to return next season. Let’s see if the front office agrees with the players.
