Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies Game 5 odds and best bet

We are getting some really good playoffs this season in the NBA. Unfortunately, though, the series with the most drama might be ending Wednesday night in Memphis.

With hard fouls, ejections and significant injuries, plus the familiar cast of the Golden State Warriors juxtaposed against the upstart Memphis Grizzlies, this second-round series has had a little bit of everything.

With Grizzlies All-Star Ja Morant not expected to play, or for the rest of the series if it continues, the Grizzlies are in a tough spot at home.

Game 4 was a close one, as Memphis lost it late at the Chase Center. It was exactly the kind of game where you need your star player to "get it done" the way that Morant did in Game 2 when he scored 15 straight points in the 4th quarter. Without him, the Grizzlies were left with nowhere to turn.

From a betting perspective, the Grizzlies might have Golden State right where they want them, though. They are 9-3 SU and 10-2 ATS as a home underdog this season.

Best Bet

Golden State -4

This line opened at -3 and has already been bet up a bit. Even with the game in Memphis, it is kind of feeling like a funeral march for the Grizzlies at this point, even though they were winning heading into the 4th quarter of Game 4 and could easily be tied 2-2.

One thing we should be able to count on Wednesday night is more from the wing duo of Des Bane and Dillon Brooks. Especially Brooks, who is going to feed on what should be an intense crowd tonight.

In Game 4, they were in the game even though the duo combined for just 20 points at Golden State. Ty Jones, doing his best to replace Morant, scored 19. You gotta give Jones credit for playing a really good game with just one turnover on the road.

I am not expecting the Grizzlies to fade, but I am expecting a championship-level performance from the well-seasoned Warriors. They smell blood in the water, and eliminating the Grizzlies Wednesday night gives them a chance to get a little rest before the next round.

Golden State won Game 4, but they did so leaving a lot of room between that performance and the one we saw in Game 3 when they scored 142 points and won by 30. I think Wednesday night we get something in the middle.

Neither Klay Thompson nor Jordan Poole made a three-pointer in the last win, and that is something we can't expect to normalize, even on the road. Steph Curry scored 32 points with shooting 10-of-25 and 4-of-14 from deep, so it was hardly an elite game from him either.

The only thing that worries me Wednesday night is that the Warriors are playing very small right now. Kevon Looney is the only player hitting the floor over 6-foot-8, and he only played 15 minutes in the last game.

If this game is played very physically on the road, they might not be able to match that. Beyond that I like the Warriors a lot.

Back the Warriors to close out comfortably Wednesday night.  Something like 112-102.
